Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
