Tetris Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Could Fix That

Each time a significant honors show nears, there’s always a clamor for introducing of new categories to honor underappreciated efforts and delight the hearts of followers with niche passions.

Another commentator has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. Equally deserving are strategy board titles, representing a passionate advocate's mission. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal is the most urgent and significant. This is the request: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents a necessary evil within the realm of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they barely qualify as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to compete fairly, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Leading game ceremonies currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these six categories actually cover numerous genres, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

Not so for logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere to put them. Think about these this year’s best games, all very different: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games released every year lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game got overlooked for anything during that awards season
  • A different innovative game was excluded that year
  • Well-received sorting experience was overlooked recently
  • Limited numbers of logic titles managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Frequently they represent compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as the most-played games in the world continuing this trend for many years.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges famous sandbox experiences claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, while interacting with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter such difficulty. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these represent titles without proper classification at major gaming awards. Brain-teaser creators function at the hard edge interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting decades.
